RIL, BP make deepwater Cauvery basin discovery

MUMBAI, India – Reliance Industries (OTN:RLNIY) and BP (NYSE:BP) have another deepwater gas condensate discovery offshore India’s eastern coast in Cauvery basin.

The well is in block CY-DWN-2001/2 (CYD5) 62 km (39 mi) offshore and is the second discovery in the block. Well CYIII-D5-S1 is in 1,743 m (5,717 ft) water depth and reached a TD of 5,731 m (18,798 ft) with Mesozoic reservoirs as the targets.

With an initial reservoir pressure of 8,000 psi, the well flowed 35.2 MMcf/d of gas and 413 b/d of condensate through a 52/64-in choke.
