MAHE, Seychelles – PetroSeychelles has received two new applications for petroleum exploration blocks in response to its recent Open File Licensing initiative.

The applications are in the first stage of the evaluation, with due diligence being performed on the applicant companies. If the companies are judged bid-qualified, a formal announcement will be placed at the end of August 2013.

The bids cover various blocks in offshore application areas 1 and 2.

Recently, Seychelles President James Michel held talks in Yokohama, Japan, with JOGMEC President Hiroumi Kawano about a potential joint oil and gas exploration program with PetroSeychelles in the Seychelles Exclusive Economic Zone. Preliminary work would involve joint seismic surveys.
