Statoil, Marathon extend production maintenance contracts

Offshore staff

MUNICH, Germany – Bilfinger Industrial Services has renewed production maintenance contracts with Marathon Oil and Statoil in northwest Europe. In both cases the extensions are for three years and have a combined value of $170 million.

At the Statoil-operated gas liquefaction plant on Melkøya Island near Hammerfest, northern Norway, Bilfinger Industrier Norge will continue to provide insulation, scaffolding, and coating services.

The plant processes gas from the Snøhvit field in the Barents Sea, which is sent to the island via a 143-km (89-mi) subsea pipeline.

In the UK central North Sea, Bilfinger Salamis UK will continue to provide services on Marathon’s Brae Alpha, Brae Bravo, and East Brae platforms, including height access work, electrical maintenance, and materials control.

The extension will secure continued employment for 130 staff both on the platforms and at Bilfinger Salamis’ base onshore.
