Flow loop testing verifies wireless estimates of reservoir inflow

TRONDHEIM, Norway – RESMAN has announced results of a full-scale flow loop test which confirms the ability of a proprietary modeling program to accurately predict zonal inflow volumes.

This full scale testing, which has also been supported by the company’s joint industry project partners Eni and Statoil, gives RESMAN the ability to accurately identify flows in each well segment based on the shape of tracer profiles linked to that segment. The flow loop study also provides a more in-depth understanding of the flow physics associated with the complexities of intelligent-tracer flow in modern well completions.

“Prior to these tests, we used RESMAN developed models based on normalized tracer concentration profiles to estimate relative flows by zones,” says CEO Torger Skillingstad. ‘’We were confident these flow-allocation models were predictive, but the flow loop tests provide empirical evidence of their accuracy. The tests show a highly precise correlation of our modeling estimates and the actual flow in the full-scale test loop.’’

Currently, the company is developing a software application that will enable rapid interpretation of its intelligent tracer data from samples of production taken topside, even from co-mingled flows involving multi-well systems with long tiebacks.
