Exxon completes entry into Liberian offshore block

IRVING, Texas – Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE:XOM) has acquired 80% interest in Liberia block 13 (LB-13) from Canadian Overseas Petroleum (Bermuda) Ltd. The agreement has approval from government officials.

The block comprises more than 625,000 acres (2,500 sq km) 18 mi (30 km) offshore Liberia in water depths ranging from 250 to 10,000 ft (75 to 3,000 m).

Exxon will be the operator and Canadian Overseas retains 20% interest.
