BHP Billiton appoints CEO

Offshore staff

MELBOURNE, Australia – Marius Kloppers will retire as CEO and a director of BHP Billiton on May 10, and will retire from the group on Oct. 1, 2013.

Andrew Mackenzie has been appointed CEO. He has more than 30 years of experience in oil and gas, petrochemicals and minerals. He joined BHP Billiton in November 2008. Mackenzie has a doctorate in chemistry and a first-class degree in geology.
