Shell secures umbilical needs

Offshore staff

THE HAGUE, the Netherlands – Shell (NYSE: RDS.A) has awarded Aker Solutions (Oslo Børs:AKSO) a five-year frame agreement for global supply of subsea umbilicals and cables.

Aker Solutions will deliver dynamic and static steel tube umbilicals for both shallow and deepwater applications.

Potentially, this could generate revenues in the range of $200-400 million, depending on the number of projects that Shell decides to implement. Most of Shell’s subsea projects are offshore Norway, the UK, the Gulf of Mexico, West Africa, and Brazil.
