ABERDEEN, UK – Craig Group’s largest platform supply vessel launched this week at the Balenciaga Shipyard in northern Spain.

Construction of the “S” class vessel, Grampian Sovereign, and sister ship Grampian Sceptre cost £50 million ($81 million). Both of the IMT-982 designed vessels will be managed by Craig Group subsidiary North Star Shipping.

The vessels are 83 m (272 ft) long with an 18-m (59-ft) beam and diesel-electric propulsion systems. They have been designed to meet North Sea operational requirements.

Grampian Sovereign will start a long-term charter in 2013.
