SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – Total E&P Angola has awarded Saipem an engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning contract for the GirRI (Girassol Resources Initiatives) project offshore Angola. The location is about 210 km (130 mi) northwest of Luanda.

Saipem will be responsible for topside modifications for multi-phase pump systems on the Girassol and Dalia FPSOs. The Saipem 3000 vessel will perform most of the offshore activities late in 2014.

Offshore Brazil, Saipem has another EPIC from Petrobras for the Sapinhoá Norte and Cernambi Sul projects in the presalt Santos basin. Here the locations are 300 km (186 mi) from the coasts of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo states, in water depths of 2,200 m (7,218 ft).

Petrobras operates BM-S-09 and BM-S-11 in partnership with, respectively, BG and Repsol, and Galp and Repsol.

The scope of work covers engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and pre-commissioning of the SLWR (steel lazy-wave riser) for the collection system at the Sapinhoá Norte field, and of the FSHRs (free-standing hybrid risers) for the gas export systems at the Sapinhoá Norte and Cernambi Sul fields.

Offshore work will start during 3Q 2012, mainly using the Saipem FDS 2 vessel. Saipem’s yard in Guarujá, currently under development, will fabricate part of the riser system equipment.
