Prosafe could build three more offshore accommodation semis

Offshore staff

LARNACA, Cyprus -- Prosafe has a letter of intent with Jurong Shipyard for construction of a semisubmersible accommodation rig in Singapore.

The design will be similar to the Safe Boreas under construction at the same yard, and the rig will be built to comply with Norwegian offshore regulations.

It should be ready for operations in the North Sea in 2015.

Jurong has granted Prosafe two options for further newbuilds.

Earlier, BP Norge exercised a one-month option to keep the Safe Scandinavia in operation at the Valhall field until Dec. 31.
