TEHRAN, Iran – Preparations are under way for load out of the 2,800-ton (2,540-metric ton) Platform A for the Phase 17 development of the South Pars gas field offshore Iran.

Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction’s (IOEC) yard in Khorramshahr built the platform, which will be loaded onto a transportation barge and will remain there for 10 days, before being taken to the Phase 17 offshore location. IOEC vessels will also install the platform in readiness for the production start this winter.

The South Pars Phase 12 platform should be loaded out within the next few days, according to Mousa Souri, managing director of Pars Oil and Gas Co.

The first jacket for phases 20 and 21 platforms has been installed and the next platform jackets will soon be loaded and transported to the offshore site, he added.

Iranian contractors are also building the first jacket of the South Pars Phase 19 platform.
