MOSCOW – Rosneft and Gazprom agreed to establish and jointly operate new field development infrastructure offshore Russia.
The two companies will strive to identify the most efficient methods and solutions to drive exploration and development of Russia’s continental shelf by combining their technical and financial capacities.
They will also adopt a long-term business strategy taking in industrial, infrastructure, and socio-economic development. This will include creation of “high-tech” production facilities for the study, exploration and production of hydrocarbons, exploration of offshore fields, and the creation of transport and energy infrastructure.
They also intend to jointly ensure compliance with the terms of international agreements and Russian legislation governing environmental protection and safety, and the protection and preservation of offshore natural and mineral resources.
This will involve creating an environmental monitoring system, developing innovative environmental protection measures, and implementing an R&D program for E&P at offshore Russian fields. They also plan to put in place effective mechanisms to prevent accidents and emergencies, including joint regional emergency centers.
