Further jackup overhaul for Dubai yard

Offshore staff

DUBAI, UAE – Drydocks World has completed the conversion and upgrade of the jackup Beynouna for National Drilling Co.

The rig arrived at the Dubai shipyard in late July.

Conversion involved fabrication and installation of new spud cans, while the upgrade included replacement of shale shakers.

The Beynouna also underwent maintenance that included an overhaul of two of its cranes, blasting and painting of the hull and tanks, inspection of legs, renewal of steel and pipes, and upgrading of accommodation. Hydro-blasting and painting of derrick and legs were performed using rope access methods.

Earlier this year the yard performed an overhaul on another NDC rig, the Delma.

Khamis Juma Buamim, chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World said: “This provides us with a firm foothold in the offshore drilling rig maintenance, conversion, and upgrade sector…We are working on various major projects and have several others in the pipeline.”
