Transportation vessel starts pre-Gorgon trials

Offshore staff

ROTTERDAM, the Netherlands – Fairstar Heavy Transport says its newbuild semisubmersible transportation vessel Forte has begun a series of tests and sea trials off the coast of China.

These will be supervised by DNV.

Guangzhou Shipyard International built the 50,000 dwt vessel, which will start a two-year contract in July for Chevron’s Gorgon LNG project, delivering modules from South Korea to Barrow Island, northwest Australia.

Sister ship Finesse was launched from the dry-dock in Qidong last Thursday, and is scheduled for delivery to Fairstar in late October.
