Technip wins Ichthys flex riser supply contract

Offshore staff

PARIS – INPEX has contracted Technip to supply flexible pipes for the Ichthys gas field development in the Browse basin off northwest Australia.

McDermott has the overall subsea umbilical, riser, flowline (SURF) engineer, procure, construct, install (EPCI) contract.

Ichthys’ gas will undergo preliminary processing offshore to remove water and extract condensate. It will then head through an 889-km (552-mi) export pipeline to an onshore LNG facility at Blaydin Point in Darwin, Northern Australia.

Technip’s lump sum Supply A – Production & Gas Export Lines contract includes:

  • 3 km (1.8 mi) of smooth bore 10-in. (25-cm) flexible gas export risers
  • 3 km of 12-in. (30.5-in.) production risers.

The company’s center in Perth will execute the contract, and the flexible risers will be manufactured at Technip’s plant in Le Trait, northern France. Deliveries are due by early 2015.
