Heidelberg deepwater GoM oil discovery appraisal drilling succeeds

MILAN, Italy – Eni confirms its deepwater Gulf of Mexico Heidelberg oil discovery with an appraisal well and side track in Green Canyon block 903.

Well GC 903-3 in 1,603 m (5,260 ft) of water reached measured TD of 9,460 m (31,030 ft) and was side tracked down-dip to TD of 9,278 m (30,440 ft). It found the oil/water contact 213 m (700 ft) deeper than the previous well, indicating a larger field extent than previously considered.

Eni holds 12.5% of Heidelberg with Anadarko Petroleum Corp. as operator at 44.25%, Apache Corp. 12.5%, Statoil 12%, Cobalt International 9.375%, and ExxonMobil 9.375%.
