The Maersk Guardian will drill well in production license 440 S, which was awarded to Faroe in 2007 under Norway’s APA 2006 licensing round. It comprises the northern part of block 2/8.

The well location is around 11 km (6.8 mi) north of the BP-operated Valhall field.
