KGOC brings in Technip for Saudi/Kuwait pipeline

Offshore staff

PARIS – Kuwait Gulf Oil Co. (KGOC) has contracted Technip for engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning assistance for the Gas and Condensate Export System project.

This is spread over offshore and onshore locations in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

The project will deliver a combination of lean gas, condensate, and sour gas through a single 12-in. (30.5-cm) export pipeline from the Al Khafji Joint Operations (KJO) complex in Saudi Arabia to the Kuwait Oil Co. (KOC) tie-in, an intermediate slug catcher under construction near Al-Ahmadi, Kuwait.

By reducing the gas flared, the new facilities will also help KPC/KJO achieve their targets of 1% flaring and monetizing hydrocarbon resources.

Total length of the export pipeline will be 110 km (68 mi), with 4 km (2.5 mi) onshore in Saudi Arabia with 47 km (29 mi) offshore and 59 km (36.7 mi) onshore in Kuwait.

Technip's center in Abu Dhabi will execute the project, which is due to be completed by the 2Q 2014. Offshore installation will be performed using the Comanche, one of the vessels that came with Technip’s acquisition of Global Industries.
