Hydratight devises Gulf bolting solution

WALSALL, UK – Hydratight has supplied subsea construction services for a project in the Persian Gulf.

The company’s team in Saudi Arabia performed a full technical study following a request to Hydratight’s UAE branch for subsea bolting and flange-pulling equipment.

This led to specification of a large number of Hydratight Aquajack subsea tensioners in a non-standard size. Engineers in the UK collaborated with a flange manufacturer to make alterations to the flange design, as the offshore work site had restricted access.

The investigation, specification and full proposal, including rental equipment from England, was returned to the customer within a week, and agreed soon afterwards. Two months later work could get under way using the new tools. Hydratight’s Saudi team also supplied a special calibration kit and a team to operate it.
