TGT reservoir performance under review offshore Vietnam

LONDON, UK -- The Te Giac Trang (TGT) field, which came on stream in August in block 16-1 off southern Vietnam, is currently producing around 35,000 b/d of oil.

Joint technical meetings by the Hoang Long Joint Operating Company (JOC) at the end of October have led to some modifications to the initial reservoir management plan, according to partner SOCO International.

Production from wells with perforated Miocene sands is as expected, and the same applies to two of the three wells with perforations in the Oligocene reservoir.

However, to better evaluate reservoir sweep within the Oligocene reservoir, planned additional perforations within the shallow, more productive Miocene reservoir have not been added.

There will be a review of the current 2012 development drilling program, which includes four wells from the H1 wellhead platform, and individual well management plans to achieve peak output of 55,000 b/d, and measures should be agreed on by 1Q 2012.

Production will remain at current levels while the JOC undertakes testing of well capabilities and the various systems of the TGT FPSO.

Gas export has started through a pipeline to the Vietsovpetro-operated Bach Ho facilities for processing and transportation to shore. Current rates are low while the gas-related process systems undergo testing and commissioning. At peak, TGT’s gas output will reach 30 MMcf/d.

Last month development drilling started for TGT Phase II, with the PVD-1 jackup spudding the first well at the H4 wellhead platform. Batch drilling of the five wells is underway with all surface casing set. The wells should be completed for start up next August.

As for SOCO’s other interests in the Nam Con Son basin, in May Vietnam’s Government approved an extension period for the TGD Appraisal Area through potentially to Oct. 31 2012, if the partners elect to drill a well.

This summer around 140 sq km of full fold 3D seismic data has been acquired there, and the data is undergoing processing.

As for the producing Ca Ngu Vang (CNV) field, additional test separation and metering facilities are being installed on the Bach Ho central processing platform complex. The aim is to more accurately measure liquid and gas production from the CNV production stream as it enters the Bach Ho facilities.

The separation equipment should be in place by the end of 1Q 2012
