RIO DE JANEIRO – Trelleborg says it plans to debut the world’s first buoyancy module system on a drill pipe landing string in Rio de Janeiro. That plus a range of explosive decompression resistant materials and oil hoses design for calm buoy, deepwater, and gas applications are to be featured at OTC Brazil.

Landing String Solutions LLC and Trelleborg Offshore combined to develop the new drill pipe landing string buoyancy modules. The system can offset the string weight by as much as 80%, says Landing String Solutions.

Trelleborg also is adding capacity in Brazil with a new facility for syntactic, buoyancy, and polymer-based materials.
