OGX awards Keppel floater conversion to FPSO for offshore Brazil

Offshore staff

SINGAPORE – SBM Offshore has contracted Keppel Shipyard to convert the VLCC M/T Concorde Spirit into an FPSO for use offshore Brazil.

The FPSO OSX-2, due for delivery in 2Q 2013, will be deployed on an OGX-operated field in the Campos basin.

Keppel Shipyard's work scope comprises refurbishment and life extension, accommodation block extensions for 80 personnel, construction of a new flare tower, internal turret mooring system and topside module supports, and installation and integration of topside modules. Work on the vessel should start next month.

The company has won a further FPSO contract from Rubicon Offshore International. This calls for fasttrack fabrication and integration of an external turret mooring system for the FPSO Rubicon Intrepid for use on the Galoc field, west of Palawan Island, the Philippines.

The program should be completed during the fourth quarter of this year.
