OSLO, Norway – Lundin Petroleum now has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill a wildcat in the Norwegian North Sea.

The Bredford Dolphin will drill well 16/2-7 in license PL 501, 5 km (3.1 mi) south of the Avaldsnes oil discovery, after completing well 16/3-4 for Lundin in the same concession.

This will be the third well drilled on the license, which takes in parts of blocks 16/2, 3, 5, and 6, and which was awarded in January 2009 under Norway’s APA 2008 licensing round.
