LONDON – Enigma Oil & Gas Exploration has government approval to move to the first renewal phase for various blocks offshore Namibia. These are central blocks 2312 A and B, the northern halves of blocks 2412 A and B, and southern block 2714 A.
The first renewal phase starts from Aug. 31 and runs through Aug. 30, 2013.
Over the next two years, Chariot must drill one well on 2714 A to a minimum depth of 3,000 m (9,842 ft), for a minimum outlay of $20 million; and acquire 2,000 km (1,243 mi) of 2D seismic or 200 sq km (77 sq mi) of 3D seismic over the other blocks, incurring a minimum spend of $5 million.
Petrobras, which farmed into southern block 2714 A in May 2009, has agreed to drill and operate the commitment well. Nimrod is one of the main target prospects.
Earlier this month, Chariot signed Heads of Terms with two companies for two of its offshore licenses, but has yet to reveal their identities.
