Barryroe pre-drill survey begins

Offshore staff

DUBLIN, Ireland – Providence Resources’ 3D seismic acquisition project is under way in the north Celtic Sea, offshore southern Ireland.

The Polarcus-managed survey, due to be completed within a fortnight, is part of the pre-development drilling program for the Barryroe oil discovery, which Providence operates in partnership with San Leon Energy and Lansdowne Oil & Gas.

Drilling of Barryroe is scheduled to start in late-summer, using the semisubmersible GSF Arctic III.

The partners hope that the application of modern 3D seismic data and well completions will make Barryroe commercial to develop.
