Funds received to build 4-MW Nahueve small hydropower project in Argentina

Hydro in Argentina

A line of credit has been approved to finance 83% of the US$18 million investment required for the 4-MW Nahueve small hydropower project in Argentina, according to BNamericas.

Argentina’s national government and the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development approved the line of credit. This financing guarantee will allow the provincial government to launch a tender for the project’s construction.

Three groups have presented proposals for the project’s design. A separate tender will be launched for civil and electromechanical works. The powerhouse will contain two turbine-generator units.

Nahueve, on the Nahueve River in the town of Villa del Nahueve, Neuquen province, will generate electricity and provide water for drinking and irrigation. It is being developed by Agencia de Inversiones del Neuquen S.E.P. (ADI-NQN), Neuquen’s investment and development agency.

HydroWorld.com reported in March that feasibility studies are being carried out of four hydro facilities with a total capacity of 1.25 GW, also in Neuquen province.
