Reclamation awards Guernsey hydropower plant spillway gate rehab contract

Guernsey Hydropower Plant

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation has awarded a contract worth $3,497,600 to Lillard & Clarck Construction Co. Inc. to rehabilitate the north spillway gate at Wyoming's 6.4-MW Guernsey hydropower plant.

The contract is part of ongoing repair work being performed at the small hydro facility, which is part of Reclamation's North Platte project that extends 111 miles long the North Platte Valley from Guernsey to Bridgeport, Neb.

Guernsey was completed in 1928 and impounds the Pathfinder Reservoir, making releases on a season basis determined by downstream irrigation needs.

HydroWorld.com reported in September 2012 that Moltz Constructors had been contracted to perform structural modifications at Guernsey before the agency solicited bids for asbestos removal and disposal in August 2013.
