The Bineng Combined Hydroelectric Power Project on the Balili River in La Trinidad, Benguet, consists of Bineng 1, Bineng 2 and Bineng 2b. Bineng 1 has a total capacity of 3.2 MW from four turbine-generator units and was initially commissioned in 1991 as a 1.6-MW facility before being upgraded in 1994. Bineng 2 has a capacity of 2 MW from three turbine-generator units and was commissioned in 1991 as a 1.5-MW facility before being upgraded in 1996. Bineng 2b has a capacity of 750 kW from two turbine-generator units and was commissioned in 1992.
The upgrade will increase generation at the three plants by 42.7 million kWh, giving annual generation of 62 million kWh.
Hedcor is processing its Free Prior Informed Consent with the National Commission on Indigenous People and various stakeholders, according to a press release. The work is expected to be complete in 2018.
The press release did not mention the 4.5-MW Bineng 3 project, which is part of the cascade of Bineng plants Hedcor owns.
