Sorgent.e Hydro Canada and BC Hydro have signed a 40-year standing offer program electricity purchase agreement for the 10.5-MW Clemina Creek hydro project.
Clemina is a run-of-river project being developed in the North Thompson Valley.
This agreement was reached through Sorgent.e Hydro Canada subsidiary Clemina Hydro Power. Signing of this agreement concludes the planning stage of the project and kicks off pre-construction activities, Sorgent.e Hydro Canada says.
Sorgent.e Hydro Canada is part of Italian group Sorgent.e Holding, which owns and operates more than 20 renewable plants in Europe and South America.
HydroWorld has been reporting on the Clemina project for a decade, with a story in 2006 on the fact that BC Hydro had agreed to buy power from the facility, along with 28 other hydro projects, in response to its 2006 open call for power.
In addition, a previous report on HydroWorld indicated Mavel has delivered equipment for the project, which will use a vertical Pelton turbine with five jets and 1,060 mm runner diameter.
