Stephan Reimelt has been appointed president and chief executive officer of GE’s Power Conversion business, succeeding Joe Mastrangelo, who becomes president and CEO of Power Generation Products for GE Power & Water.
Power Conversion operates in 160 locations worldwide, with more than 7,000 employees. This business is a crucial cornerstone for what will become a $13 billion Energy management business when combined with Alstom Grid Solutions, according to a press release.
Power Conversion “is opening new avenues with tidal energy,” the company says. This business is home to GE Marine. Power Conversion is working to “help drive the electrification of the world’s energy infrastructure by designing and delivering advanced motor, drive and control technologies. The business serves such specialized sectors as energy, marine, oil, gas, renewables and industry, GE says.
Reimelt will oversee global operations and their further expansion, as well as driving commercial growth, a press release says.
Reimelt has been with GE for four years, previously responsible for GE in Europe and for the energy portfolio in Germany. Before that, he served in leadership positions at MAN Ferrostaal AG and Lurgi AG.
Mastrangelo is a 22-year GE veteran. He succeeds Vic Abate, who was named chief technology officer, leading the Global Research business.
