MapTech wins contract for dam surveying, mapping work

Corps of Engineers Seal

Water resource management firm MapTech Inc. has won a $10 million contract to perform surveying, mapping and dam deformation studies for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the southern United States and possibly worldwide.

The Corps' Mobile District solicited bids for the work in February for work that potentially includes airborne light detecting and ranging (LiDAR) collection, airborne multi-spectral and hyper-spectral data collection and analysis.

Virginia-based MapTech will also perform photogrammetry, hydrographic surveying, high-accuracy dam deformation surveys, conventional and GPS surveying, and geographic information system development.

The Corps' Walla Walla District recruited firms in February for hydrographic surveying and mapping in the Corps' Northwestern Division. The Corps' Portland District issued a similar solicitation last year.
