Constructech magazine gave its first annual Women in Construction awards to 38 women, some of whom work for companies allied with the hydro industry.
“During the past several years, women have more than proven they can be a catalyst for driving change in construction -- which is why Constructech magazine is pleased to announce the first annual Women in Construction awards,” a press release says.
The winners were chosen based on their involvement with technology within the construction industry, contributing to helping their companies grow and progress via the use of cutting-edge solutions, influence in the growth of technology within the overall construction industry, and inspiration to other women in industry, technology or their local communities.
Winning women who work for companies that to do work in the hydropower market are:
Sandra Benson, vice president IT, SNC-Lavalin Group
Joan Miller, senior vice president, CH2M Hill Companies Ltd.
Claire Rutkowski, chief information officer, MWH Global
Carol Zierhoffer, principal vice president and chief information officer, Bechtel Corp.
“These 38 women in construction are not only working in the industry, but are doing it in a way that proves women can have a presence and don’t have to sacrifice femininity in order to be successful in business,” says Laura Black, editor of Constructech magazine.
