Organizers of the world's largest hydroelectric power event are pleased to announce the addition of Chandra Brown, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Manufacturing with the U.S. Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration, as a keynote speaker at the upcoming HydroVision International 2015 conference and exhibition.
Brown oversees a broad portfolio of programs that seek to increase the international competitiveness of U.S. manufacturers, which has been a key in the Obama Administration's agenda for economic growth and job creation.
Before her appointment by President Obama in March 2013, Brown served as vice president of Oregon Iron Works and its subsidiary, United Streetcar. Brown was appointed to the U.S Manufacturing Council by former Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke in 2010 and served as its vice-chair.
Brown is also the recipient of numerous honors, including the White House Champion of Change in 2011 and the Right Stuff Award from the Apollo Alliance in 2010, in addition to being named one of the 50 Most Influential Portlanders in 2012.
She joins a keynote lineup that also includes Pacific Power president and CEO Stefan Bird, Portland General Electric senior vice president Maria Pope, and U.S. Department of Energy Director of Wind and Water Power Technologies Jose Zayas.
The HydroVision International 2015 opening keynote session begins Tuesday, July 14 at 3 p.m. and is open to all attendees and exhibitors.
Brown will also be in attendance at the Women with Hydro Vision luncheon on July 14, as well as the Oregon Wave Energy Trust's Ocean Renewable Energy Conference that is co-located with HydroVision International 2015.
