Industry leaders urge hydroelectric power advocacy in new film

The world's largest gathering of hydroelectric power professionals is now under way in Portland, Ore., and industry leaders from around the globe are using the four-day conference and exhibition to encourage the sector to spread awareness about hydropower's many virtues.

Featured in a new short film debuted during the HydroVision International 2015 keynote session are International Hydropower Association president Ken Adams, National Hydropower Association executive director Linda Church Ciocci, Canadian Hydropower Association president Jacob Irving and Northwest Hydroelectric Association executive director Jan Lee.

And though their perspectives vary, the overwhelming sentiment shared by each is that it is an exciting time for the hydropower sector.

"I think that our best days are ahead of us. And that's saying something, because we've had some really great days behind us as well," -- Jacob Irving, CHA

"There's certainly never been a brighter future for the industry. We're seeing a renewed interest from the federal government, and their continued support, recognition and desire to see the industry expand and thrive," -- Linda Church Ciocci, NHA

"The prospects for the hydroelectric industry going forward look quite good," Ken Adams, IHA

"As climate change continues to grow, renewables will have a better position than they've had before -- especially hydropower," -- Jan Lee, NWHA

HydroVision International 2015 continues through Friday. This year's event includes more than 3,500 delegates from 60 countries, making it the largest in the event's history.
