Dam safety part of USSD call for papers, deadline approaches


Members of the United States Society on Dams (USSD) and the International Commission on Large Dams, and all professionals involved in dams, levees and water resources engineering are invited to submit abstracts for proposed papers, oral presentations and/or posters for the USSD annual conference.

Abstracts for papers are due Aug. 7.

“Celebrating the Value of Dams and Levees – Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” is the titled-theme for the 36th Annual U.S. Society on Dams Conference & Meeting scheduled for April 11-15, 2016 in Denver, Colo.

Content categories include the following:

− Paper
   o Paper
   o Twenty-minute oral presentation or poster session
− Non-Paper
   o Twenty-minute oral presentation or poster session
   o Young Professional or Student (YP/S) 10-minute oral presentation (YP/S   presentations will be in a separate YP/S track)

Abstracts for papers will receive greater consideration over non-paper abstracts. Non-paper abstracts are ineligible for Outstanding Paper awards. Additional deadlines include the following dates:

− Notify authors: Aug. 14
− Draft papers due: Oct. 16
− Comments to authors: Dec. 1
− Final paper to USSD: Feb. 1, 2016
− Conference: April 11-15, 2016

All accepted papers and presentations will be published in the official USSD Conference Proceedings, too include papers that accompany oral presentations and poster session papers.
