Jamaica's National Water Commission invites expressions of interest from consultants to prepare studies, final designs and bidding documents for the rehabilitation of Hermitage Dam in Jamaica. Responses are due June 24.

Jamaica Public Service Co. last year commissioned its new 7.2-MW Maggotty small hydropower project on the Black River. The Ministry of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining recruited consultants in 2013 to prepare or update pre-feasibility and feasibility studies of six small hydropower projects in Jamaica.

Completed in 1927, Hermitage Dam is a concrete gravity dam on the Wag Water River that provides water supply to Kingston and Saint Andrew Parish. The government of Jamaica has received funding from the Caribbean Development Bank for a Hermitage Dam rehabilitation study.

The National Water Commission invites expressions of interest to conduct studies and prepare final designs and bidding documents for rehabilitation of Hermitage Dam. The objective is to increase the capacity of the dam, to develop operational systems and procedures manuals and to enhance watershed management. Services are to include development of project alternatives, assess economic and environmental impacts, and preparation of detailed designs, tender documents and cost estimates.

Expressions of interest in English are due by 4 p.m. June 24 to the addresses below. A short-list of three to six applicants is to be invited to submit proposals.
