The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a contract worth $3.6 million to J.R. Merit Inc. to supply replacement penstock butterfly valves to the 49-MW Lost Creek hydropower project on Oregon's Rogue River.
The Corps' Portland District most recently called for bids for the work in September after holding a pre-solicitation conference to supply wicket gate seals in 2013.
Per the contract award, J.R. Merit will remove two 10.5-foot-diameter penstock butterfly valves and appurtenances, hydraulic power unit and controls; and fabricate, assemble and install two new valves and other equipment.
Lost Creek Dam began service in 1977 as part of the Rogue River Basin Project. The Corps' Portland District took bids in 2011 for asbestos and lead abatement at Lost Creek and 20 other dams and hydro projects in Oregon.
