Haiti seeks instrumentation, mechanical components for 54-MW Peligre, Canneau dams

Haiti's agriculture ministry seeks bids to supply instrumentation for the 54-MW Peligre Dam hydroelectric project and Canneau Dam, as well as mechanical components for Canneau, both on Haiti's Artibonite River. Documents may be obtained until June 22, with bids due July 7.

With funding from the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB), the Ministere de l'Agriculture, des Ressources Naturelles et du Developpement Rural (MARNDR) seeks the work under a water management program in the Artibonite River Basin. Alstom-Comelex won a contract in 2012 to help restore Peligre.

The ministry took bids last year to renovate hydro-mechanical equipment at Canneau Dam. It also took bids to supply gages and monitoring instrumentation at Peligre and Canneau.

The current solicitation seeks bids for Lot 1 to supply instrumentation to monitor flows and assist flood management at Peligre and at Canneau, which supplies water for irrigation and for the 2.65-MW Drouet hydroelectric project. (The work is expected to require 19 months.

It also seeks Lot 2, renovation of mechanical components of Canneau Dam, including acquisition of micro-processors, hydraulic cylinders and a control center, plus repair of valves. The work is to require 15 months.
