Canada utility seeks switchgear for 695-MW Keeyask hydro project

Keeyask Hydropower Project

Canadian utility Manitoba Hydro seeks bids to supply switchgear and bus duct for the 695-MW Keeyask hydroelectric project being built on the Lower Nelson River in Manitoba. Bids are due May 19.

Manitoba Hydro took bids in April to supply a draft tube crane and an intake monorail crane for Keeyask. It took bids in February to supply generator circuit breakers and in January to provide inspection of equipment manufacturing for the project. The project site also was evacuated in January due to a bomb threat.

The utility now seeks to design, manufacture and deliver 10 600-volt switchgear lineups and interconnecting bus duct. The work could include spare parts, special tools and equipment, on-site assistance, reliability-centered maintenance analysis and training of personnel.
