The Bureau of Reclamation seeks information from firms capable of performing generator step-up transformer maintenance at the 2,078.8-MW Hoover, 255-MW Davis, and 120-MW Parker dam hydroelectric projects on the Colorado River. Responses are due April 16.
Reclamation has been performing modernization work for several years at Hoover in Arizona and Nevada, Davis in Arizona, and Parker in California. It called for bids by April 17 for unit circuit breakers and associated equipment at Hoover. It took information in December on firms able to supply replacement transformers at Davis. It awarded a contract in 2013 to Moltz Constructors Inc. to paint penstock gates and refurbish fixed-wheel gate assemblies at Parker.
Reclamation seeks information from groups that are able to perform transformer maintenance on generator step-transformers at the three projects. It plans to use responses to develop an acquisition strategy for an indefinite-delivery indefinite- quantity contract.
Hoover Dam has 15 single-phase transformers rated at 100 megavolt-amperes and eight three-phase transformers rated at 135 MVa. Davis Dam has five three-phase transformers of 40 to 45 MVa each, while Parker has 12 single-phase transformers rated at 10 MVa each.
Reclamation said it seeks firms capable of performing all items in a lengthy list of tasks.
