U.S. Fish and Wildlife seeks dam safety program support

Fish and Wildlife Service Shield

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service seeks proposals to provide technical support to its dam safety program covering more than 300 FWS dams. Responses are due May 4.

FWS recruited architectural-engineering firms in 2013 to perform infrastructure work and studies in up to 15 states, primarily in the Pacific Northwest. It operates about 300 earthen and concrete structures classified as dams, including 17 high- or significant-hazard structures. It periodically seeks architectural-engineering work for fishways and other facilities.

FWS currently seeks Safety Evaluation of Existing Dams (SEED) inspections. Work might include inspections; analysis; design; preparation of drawings, specifications and other construction documents; field investigations; risk analysis and potential failure mode analysis; stability studies; hydraulic and hydrologic studies; biological and cultural studies; documentation; construction supervision; consultation; and Clean Water Act certification and permitting.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. F15PS00234 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Responses are due May 4. For information, contact Michael Coghill, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Division of Contracting, 5275 Leesburg Pike, MO: BMO, Falls Church, VA 22041-3803; E-mail: michael_coghill@fws.gov.
