The government of Swaziland invites expressions of interest from consultants to perform a pre-feasibility study of the Ngwempisi hydropower cascade on Swaziland's Ngwempisi River. Responses are due April 15.

Swaziland Electricity Co. took bids in 2009 for a full feasibility study and pre-design study of the Ngwempisi cascade, estimated to be three hydro plants totaling 120 MW.

In the current solicitation, the Energy Department of Swaziland's Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy seeks expressions of interest for a pre-feasibility study to provide a basis of decision for further hydropower development to meet growing electricity demand in Swaziland. The work is expected to require 10 months.

Expressions of interest in English are due to the address below by 2 p.m. April 15 labeled "Consultancy Services for the Pre-feasibility Study for Ngwempisi Hydropower Cascading Scheme, Procurement Reference No. 68 of 2015/2016."

For information, contact Director Henry Shongwe, Energy Department, Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy, 3rd Floor, Income Tax Building, Mhlambanyatsi Road, P.O. Box 57, Mbabane H100 Swaziland; (268) 24041231; Fax: (268) 24047252.
