The International Renewable Energy Agency announces the availability of its Project Navigator tool, intended to give renewable energy project developers the knowledge, tools, case studies and best practices needed to support completion of their projects.
According to a press release from IRENA, the Project Navigator walks developers through the process from initial idea to implementation, helping to create a comprehensive and bankable project proposal. The Financial Navigator section allows users to search for funding by renewable energy type and region, drawing from a database of funds available for project financing.
This tool helps project developers “overcome the barriers inherent in starting projects and, in doing so, facilitates the deployment of more renewable energy worldwide.”
It works on the basis of filled out templates, with users being made aware of what information the template should include and what the different questions mean through the use of pop-up windows.
The resulting data can be stored in any Microsoft Office application format and/or downloaded for any further processing to turn the gathered information into a project proposal.
The tool is available here.
IRENA was founded in 2009 and is mandated as the global hub for renewable energy cooperation and information exchange by 139 members (138 states and the EU). The agency promotes the widespread adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy, including hydropower.
