German utility seeks turbine refurbishment at 148-MW Iffezheim hydro project

Rheinkraftwerk Hydropower Project

German utility Energie Baden-Wurttemberg AG (EnBW) seeks bids to refurbish three turbines of the 148-MW Iffezheim hydroelectric project on the Rhine River. Bids are due April 19.

One of the project's four original 27-MW Kaplan turbines currently is being refurbished, with completion expected in early 2015. In 2013, EnBW and Electricite de France celebrated addition of a fifth, 40-MW unit. That work made Iffezheim the largest hydro plant on the Rhine. Andritz Hydro supplied that fifth unit.

EnBW now seeks bids for two lots to refurbish the remaining three original bulb turbines, Units 1, 2 and 3, originally manufactured by Voith/Escher Wyss/Siemens. Both lots require dismantling, component testing, overhauls, spare parts, reassembly and documentation.

Lot 1 is for rotating parts including rotor hub and blades, guide wheel servo motors and shaft seal. Lot 2 is for fixed parts and shaft including discharge ring, flange manifold discharge ring, oil supply and bushings, turbine shaft, bearings and mechanical seal.

Tender documents may be obtained from the address below. Bids are due by April 19.
