Corps' Huntington District awards contract for dam safety, engineering work

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a US$10 million contract to URS Group Inc. and Stantec Tetra Tech JV for a number of dam-related projects within the continental United States.

The Corps' Huntington District and the Dam Safety Modification Mandatory Center of Expertise solicited bids in December 2013 for work that includes dam safety design and analysis, flood damage reduction engineering, navigation and waterway engineering, civil engineering, and other engineering and planning.

The Corps said the services will support its mission to plan, build, modify, operate and control reservoirs and dams, and to execute flood damage reduction, navigation, rehabilitation and other agency projects.

The contract includes up to two multi-disciplinary indefinite-delivery contracts for a base year and four option years. reported that the URS Group had won a $6 million contract to perform similar services in February 2013 from the Corps' Kansas City District.

Meanwhile, Stantec was awarded a joint $9.5 million architect-engineer contract this past February with Jacobs for work in the Corps' Great Lakes and Ohio River Division.
