U.S. extends bidding for station service replacement at 36-MW Kortes hydro project

Kortes Hydropower Plant Turbine Units

The Bureau of Reclamation has extended the deadline for bids to perform station service equipment replacement at the 36-MW Kortes hydroelectric plant in Wyoming. Bids now are due Feb. 11.

Reclamation previously called for bids by Jan. 23.

Located on the North Platte River in Carbon County, Wyo., Kortes is part of the federal government's Pick-Sloan Missouri Basin project. Reclamation awarded contracts in 2006 to Alltech Engineering Corp. for maintenance at Kortes and the 51.75-MW Seminoe project and to Alcatel USA Marketing Inc. to replace the Wyoming Area Office microwave communications system that links Kortes and 13 other hydroelectric plants.

Reclamation now seeks bids to replace AC and DC electrical distribution equipment and cables; provide new 480-volt combination switchboard/switchgear D2A, combination transformer/load-centers D2B and D2C, 208/120-volt main lighting distribution cabinet L2A, lighting panelboards, conductors and raceway; and modify six motor-control/contactor-control circuits with the addition of control power transformers. The work is valued at $1 million to $5 million.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from the Federal Business Opportunities Internet site, www.fbo.gov, by entering Solicitation No. R15PS00030 in the "Keyword/Solicitation #" box.

Bids now are due Feb. 11. For information, contact Gerri Voto-Braun, Contract Specialist, Bureau of Reclamation, Great Plains Region, P.O. Box 36900, Billings, MT 59107; (1) 406-247-7809; E-mail: gvoto-braun@usbr.gov.
