VIDEO: NHA touts hydroelectric power's virtues in new video

The National Hydropower Association hopes industry members will use a new video to help educate American energy consumers about the virtues of hydroelectric power.

The video, called "Hydropower in America's New Energy Era", highlights the benefits hydro already brings to the nation's grids, while also discussing its potential for providing renewable energy in the future.

"It's a message the industry has carried to policymakers, to the press, and to the public for many years now," NHA said. "But never like this."

NHA is encouraging industry members and advocates to share the video with customers, clients, ratepayers, co-workers, friends and family, and suggests embedding the video into websites, sharing on social media, and including it in marketing and outreach materials.

The video is available for viewing on NHA's YouTube channel.

The National Hydropower Association has been instrumental in shaping legislation that could have a significant impact on America's hydroelectric sector -- notably the Hydropower Regulatory Efficiency Act and Bureau of Reclamation Small Conduit Hydropower Development and Rural Jobs Act -- both of which were enacted by President Barack Obama in August 2013.

The group is also currently working with the U.S. Department of Energy to develop the "Hydropower Vision" plan, which is intended to provide a roadmap for domestic hydroelectric development and could potentialy spur future growth.
