Firms sought for biological services at U.S. hydro projects in Northwest

Snake and Columbia Rivers

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers seeks information on firms able to provide biological services and quality assurance for its juvenile fish transportation program at five hydroelectric projects on the Snake and Columbia rivers in the Pacific Northwest. Responses are due Dec. 19.

The Corps' Walla Walla District took bids in April from small firms able to perform biological studies in the Snake and Columbia river basins.

In a sources sought notice, it now seeks information on firms able to assist in collection, sampling, bypass and transport of juvenile salmonids; conduct regular facility inspections, assist with gatewell dipping; collect water temperatures; monitor outside research groups; disseminate reports; and coordinate activities of biologists. Responses will be used to determine the type of solicitation to be issued.

Under a one-year contract, with four option years, work would be performed at the 810-MW Lower Granite, 810-MW Little Goose, 810-MW Lower Monumental and 603-MW Ice Harbor projects on the Snake River and the 980-MW McNary project on the Columbia River.
