Canada utility seeks transformers for 180-MW Bridge River 1, other facilities

Bridge River 1 Hydropower Project

Canadian utility BC Hydro invites applications for pre-qualification to supply transformers to various BC Hydro facilities including the 180-MW Bridge River 1 hydroelectric project in British Columbia. Responses are due Jan. 15, 2015.

BC Hydro said it seeks supplier qualifications for as-needed, multi-year supply of power transformers and generator step-up transformers (high side nominal voltage range: 25 kV and below; 69 kV up to 500 kV) for various BC Hydro facilities throughout British Columbia. It also seeks one-time supply of generator step-up transformers (two 100/133 MVa three-phase 362-13.8-13.8 kV outdoor air-cooled transformers) for the Bridge River generating station.

BC Hydro's 492-MW Bridge River generating system, on Bridge River, includes 180-MW Bridge River 1, 248-MW Bridge River 2, 22-MW La Joie (or Lajoie) Dam, 42-MW Seton Dam, and Terzaghi Dam. It recruited firms in 2013 to replace cooling water piping for four generating units of Bridge River 1 and took bids in June to replace low-voltage circuit breakers and related equipment at Bridge River 2.

A solicitation notice may be obtained from British Columbia's BC Bid Internet site, www.bcbid.gov.bc.ca. Click on Browse, then Browse Using the Advanced Search, Document Number 1856.
