Power technology group Reivax North America has received a pair of rehabilitation and upgrade awards for work at hydropower projects in Arkansas and Washington.

The first, awarded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will see Reivax upgrade static excitation systems on four 43 MW and four 48 MW turbine generators at the 340-MW Bull Shoals hydroelectric plant in Arkansas.

The company will also replace exist controls with its RTX Power system. The contract is worth US$1.2 million and includes the design, supply, removal, installation, commissioning and excitation model validation testing.

The second contract will see Reivax replace a static excitation system on one 30 MW turbine unit at Tacoma Power's 13-MW Wynoochee plant in Washington.

The work is the first component in a larger Tacoma Power fleet modernization project, which is expected to be executed over the next five years.
